Since my first review I've been back several times for happy hour. While they won't reserve table space for 30 until at least one person shows up, they are very capable of handling a happy hour party that large. The buffet at HH has a great selection. Although I still feel this isn't going to be my 'go-to' authentic Mexican restaurant, I will continue to plan large happy hour gatherings at this establishment.

Lunch was great. Chicken and pork tacos were delicious and the meat was of seemingly high quality. I'll be back.

This is a great Mexican restaurant! Great food, great service. And a great place to bring your family! I have 3 small children. And it is a fun place, and kids eat Free on Sundays! I would highly recommend!

We have liked La Casita both times we have went. It is American style, Mexican food that is cooked well and tastes great. I got a taco salad that comes in a tortilla bowl. My husband had the fish tacos which he really liked as well. The cost is really pretty reasonable and comparable with the Mexican Village. We have seen that on Sunday's kids eat free, but have never tried it yet. Our waitress was really attentive during the meal without being overbearing. The inside of the restaurant is really open - everywhere is very high ceilings. They have lots of pictures of Mexican folk heroes from the turn of the last century and a big fountain in the entry. Overall very pleased and we will return.

La Casita is pretty good as far as Mexican in St. Cloud. The salsa is actually a little spicy and pretty darn good. The food isn't authentic Mexican, more of a Tex Mex style, but tasty at least. There is plenty of seating and I'd say it's a good place to bring the kids if you have any. It's a rather large restaurant with nice decor and a laid back atmosphere. There's a nice bar area with televisions that are usually tuned into some type of sporting event and you can see the televisions from almost anywhere you are seated. Now that I think about it, the TVs aren't just in the bar area, they're everywhere! And I don't mind this because most of the time my company is boring anyways. The service and wait staff is excellent, always extremely polite and on the ball with everything. Worth a try if you're in the mood for this type of food!

Nice bar area for watching sports with a good family environment. I've tried a few items on the menu, but always revert back to the Mazatlan. I'm normally not a vegetarian dish guy, but this is a nice creamy and spicy dish - with lots of artichoke, garlic and spinach.

Great choice for lunch on the way to/from the Twin Cities to/from Alexandria. Service was friendly, fast, & on point - efficient. Food was very good (chicken fajitas - great for the slow-carb diet). I'd definitely visit again -

GIANT margarita. Salty chips with spicy red salsa and cool guac. Nearly filled myself up gorging on the above two delights. Love them; and the warm, fuzzy feeling the margaritas provide! Goodies aside, I always have a hard time picking what to eat. The Tex Mex food is not my favorite, and hardly worth the zillions of calories. My mainstay is fajitas, but this time I decided to be a bit more adventurous and tried a fajita burrito. It arrived in a big red lump, that is, a big floury lump covered in red chili sauce. I was not a fan. Picked out the chicken and fajita veggies and dipped them in guac. My friends were probably mortified... However, saving grace for the restaurant: I tried a bite of my friend's pollo fundido, and oh boy, was that the greatest thing since corn tortillas! Cheesy, creamy, tangy sauce over a crisp fried tortilla shell, with spicy shredded chicken tucked inside. Certainly not the healthy menu choice, but it will be my first pick should I find myself dining at a La Casita again!

I am not a big fan of Mexican Food, but my boyfriend's family is, and we took his mom here for her birthday. It is a really big place, the entrance is huge, which is nice because we had to wait to be seated, even though half of the tables were empty. Our server was very friendly, and made margarita suggestions, she seemed fairly knowledgeable about the different tequilas available. The margarita was huge and very tasty, but expensive. We were served an endless supply of salsa and fresh chips. I am not usually a salsa lover, but this was pretty decent. The food was basic tex-mex. The servings were huge, but the food was just like the other dozen of Mexican places in the St. Cloud area. I did like that we got a free birthday meal, it helped defer the cost of the drinks! Overall, not a bad place for generic Mexican food, but if you want to go out for a birthday meal, this is a good option because of the free dinner. I would given it four stars, but having to wait 20 minutes to be seated, with half of the tables empty was pretty annoying.

Love this place!!! This has about the same prices as Mexican Village, only BETTER food. Menu is huge. Lots to choose from. Rancheros are chiller! So good!! Their giant margaritas are def. giant and cheap during happy hour! Their happy hour specials are awesome. We always leave feeling full & like we robbed the place cuz the bill is so cheap. As much as I like the Mexican stuff like quesadillas and nachos, I actually think you guys have some of my favorite WINGS in St Cloud. Wings are made just perfect !! Not too hot, not too over fried. Very Meaty. Yum!! Like the other reviewer said, your not gonna get any super authentic Mexican food here. American Tex-Mex is def. a better way to describe it. But I mean, if you are hungry and want something TASTY, you can't go wrong here. Should mention, never had bad service either. Always great!

We ate here while staying in St. Cloud. It's a pretty big place, and while it's no super-authentic Mexican food, it's still pretty good American Tex-Mex. Our server was really nice. The fajitas were outstanding and the portion was huge so we had plenty of leftovers. I'd go back.

This is a good to fine Mexican restaurant. It's not authentic, but Americanized Mexican food. Decor is typical mexican style with some pieces brought in from Mexico. As good if not better than Mexican Village and MV Too. Nice warm chips, have the regular hot sauce and extra hot hot sauce. They also have bottled sauces at each table. Service is excellent, served within 5 to 10 minutes of placing the order, which is ok so you can enjoy the chips and sauce. Food comes piping hot. If eating at dinner time on Fridays or the weekend, suggest going before 5 unless you don't mind waiting.

Had lunch with some co-workers on a wednesday. Food was great! The sangria margarita was super delicious. The full menu is super extensive, but we only ordered off of the lunch menu. Portions were more than ample. I would come back here again next time I'm in town.

As always, I'm on the lookout for authentic, spicy, enticing food. La Casita....well.....it didn't deliver in those departments. It's definitely Tex-Mex, not very authentic. It was difficult to find something on the menu that wasn't smothered in cheese, sauce, sour cream, cream cheese, fried, sauteed in butter, etc (and some items were all of the above!). I like to eat lighter, fresher foods, so that was disconcerting for me (even the veggie quesadilla had veggies cooked in butter!), but if you like that sorta stuff, then you'll like this place! I ended up ordering the Chicken Ranchitos, and my husband ordered the Chili Colorado Burrito. My food was fine, perfectly standard American Mexican food. It was smothered in cheese. I usually ask to sub the refried beans for black beans, but I didn't do that here because my husband wanted to eat my refried beans, so I don't know if that is an option or not. Husband reported that burrito was good. Chips came with only salsa. The salsa was not remotely hot. I also ordered a Mango Habanero Margarita (they do have a great list of specialty margaritas), and I will say, that was mighty tasty! Just enough spice to give it a good kick, and the drink itself was enormous (see picture). Price around $6.95 FYI. They do have a cheap margarita night on Tuesdays, but I'll assume those are smaller house margaritas and not the fancy ones. Decor is very festive, touristy. The place is enormous, and well kept. Server was friendly, our seating hostess was a bit of a grump. All in all, sure, this place was okay. Not great, pretty typical. I prefer Hacienda to this place.

This was the strangest "Mexican' food I've ever been served. The ingredients LOOKED right - tortillas, beans, rice, ground beef - but whoever was cooking has obviously never been anywhere south of the Minnesota-Iowa border. There was NO trace of any 'Mexican' seasoning -- chili powder, cumin, cilantro, garlic, onion, oregano, cinnamon -- it was the blandest possible tasteless ground beef, beans and rice, wrapped in a tortilla and looking Mexican but tasting like a bad church hot dish.

Now this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in St Cloud.. They have good food and their service is usually very good! Their happy hour is fun too!

We were a party of four. We were in the mood for Mexican so we decided to go there. We walked up to hostess station where two hostesses were inattentive to our seating wishes. She told us we could seat ourselves. My wife asked, "do we just look for a table in the dining room?" Because we wanted to be in the dining room, not in the bar. The hostess then ROLLED HER EYES on my wife and said "follow me". My wife and I saw her. If your receptionists can treat us like second class customers, and be so rude as to roll their eyes on us when all we wanted was a table, that was the height of rudeness. So we went to the other Mexican restaurant down the road, La Hacienda where we were greeted well and the service and the food was excellent.

Great food. The chili con queso was above my expectations for this place. The food was blended with perfect ingredients. Thanks for a decent meal.

Do not like this place, waaaaay to expensive for mexican. Grew up in California so I'm a little spoiled but, it generally was not that good with flavors, even the salsa. The waitress was very nice, I just expect someone Hispanic to be waiting on me at a restaurant like this. Just like if I go to a Cuban restaurant I expect to see Cubans working there. Anyhow, I ordered a chimichanga, guacamole and sour cream wasn't that good. Especially for 10 dollars.

To take a look at the outside of the restaurant, it wants to remind you on a hacienda kind of atmosphere, you are entering. Nice enough. Entering it, there are high beams on the ceiling with numerous items on the wall. Straight ahead you can see the bar, what everyone is raving here about. We are led from a server to an open room, with wooden tables. The walls have wall paper with fake cracks on it, to remind you that this is an old Cantina. For bringing you into even more into the right direction, is a large picture on the wall, with an enlarged photo from an small Mexican village Cantina. But nothing more resembles it. There are two huge flat screen TVs on the wall, but nobody watched it. I thought, they were out of place and did not fit in that setting. Around the time we arrived, it got loud. Not really a place good with small children. We looked for our menu, what was not very impressive. Had more the average menus on it, someone may expect. Not really authentic. The service came fast from two busy servers. But the serving size was small. I thought it could be more for the price of the food. Haven't seen anything a small child can enjoy eating. They have high chairs, but nothing to keep a small child occupied. When I looked in that niche, where the steps led to the top, (another part of the decor, I could see the Mariachi band playing). It would have been nice! All in all, it was satisfactory. If you want to have a good time, and margarita. There is a fountain in the entry hall, you can drop a good luck coin in ! The ambiance is more modern Southwest.

Nice place but the food was the whiter version of authentic Mexican food lol Skip it and go to Guadalajaras.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
